The province of Cremona has a religious heritage, still little known but certainly very interesting to discover!
The Cremona territory is crossed by kilometres of lines and curves drawing a very peculiar spiritual geometry. They connect, in a slow and methodical way shrines and reliquaries, passes and historical memories.
These sanctuaries and the paths connecting them are mostly found in the Northern area of the Cremona, remnants of a faith that finds in the devotion to the Holy Virgin Mary the most simple and natural outlet. Indeed worshippers had a lot of good reasons to seek the help of Mary over the years: these were borderlands, which were often ravaged from famine and disease or suffered the outcomes of violent military campaigns and political struggles; for these reasons people probably felt the need to seek help from above.
Today the trails await devotees, trekking fans and pilgrims, who move on foot or by bicycle, equipped with GPS or guided by the natural compass of the Sun. A journey that combines a slow pace, physical exercise and spiritual reflection, all elements that are no longer part of everyday life yet are increasingly longed for by everyone. This is the kind of path that gives you stems, berries, blisters on your feet and some shard of truth inside your soul.
