Rural settlements in Piateda

Ambria

After leaving Piateda Alta, a bumpy dirt road (only accessible after purchasing a car pass) departing from Vedello leads to Ambria.
The settlement , which developed in a wonderful basin sheltered from bad weather, is striking for the careful renovation works: the tightly packed stone houses are small in size and nearly always completed by a stable and a bayloft. A creek, that over the course of time formed several giants' pots, flows on the right of the settlement. The small church of Saint Gregory stands in the middle of Ambria and its squat bell tower can be recognized from far away.

Piateda, a town rich in pastures and woods, is very interesting from an alpinistic point of view, as it has many routes leading to val Venina, val d'Ambria and the artificial Scais lake at an elevation of 1494 m.
