The pezzotto: one of the most ancient traditions of Valtellina

One of the most famous products of Valtellina is the “pezzotto”, a highly resistant
fabric made out of remnants of cloths (pezze) hand-woven using traditional looms.
The pezzotti were once used to make shelters for cattle in alpine pastures, to produce
sacks for buckwheat, to cover hay and much more. In some towns women still wave pezzotti following the traditional method. The visit to the old looms is a real trip back in time.
