Bagnada mine and museum - Mountain class

The history of Valmalenco is intertwined with the plentiful mineral resources of the valley: asbestos, talc, soapstone and serpentinite. The talc mine “la Bagnada” was discovered in the 1920s, when the working processes were rather rudimental and only based on physical labor. Talc was carried through cableways and the miners were divided in teams of 25 people. The guided visit to the museum brings to light forgotten stories of this mountain area and its people and is an occasion to discover the technological and geological features of talc deposits.
